Brockton, MA - Also known as the "City of Champions". Brockton is centrally located - 25 miles south of Boston and 35 miles east of Providence, Rhode Island. Brockton was given it's "City of Champions" nickname for being the hometown of two boxing champions Rocky Marciano and Marvin Hagler along with a successful Brockton High School sports program. Seventh largest city in Massachusetts, Brockton has two villages (Montello and Campello) within the city with their own MBTA Commuter Rail Stations. Brockton was named one of the Best Communities for Young People in the United States in 2005, 2008, 2010, and 2011.

 
There is always something to do in the city of Brockton. Brockton is home to some very unique museums including the Fuller Craft Museum, The Fire Museum, the Shoe Museum and "the Homestead" as well as the Brockton Symphony Orchestra. The Campanelli Stadium is home to the Brockton Rox baseball team which offers a fun night out for the entire family. D. W. Field Park is a great spot for walking with over 700 acres and 7 miles of paved road and amazing views. There's bowling and billiards at the Westgate Lanes, a public Brockton Audubon Preserve for hiking, and both private and public golf courses include the D. W. Field Golf Course, Thorny Lea Golf Course and Brockton Country Club. Many different events throughout the year including Summerfest, Downtown Brockton Arts & Music Festival, Brockton Greek Festival and more.

Massachusetts Route 24 runs through the city of Brockton with with exit 17 at Route 123 and exit 18 at Route 27. Brockton is also located near Interstate Highways I-93, I-495, and I-195. It is surrounded by the towns of Easton, Stoughton, Avon, Holbrook, Abington, Whitman, East Bridgewater and West Bridgewater.

Brockton is located south of Boston in the Plymouth County. It was settled in 1700 but not incorporated until 1821.
It was originally part of the neighboring town of Bridgewater. The city split off in 1821 becoming North Bridgewater but changed its name to Brockton in 1874.The city covers 21.6 square miles.

Brockton operates its own school system. There are two pre-kindergarten schools (Gilmore Early Childhood Center and Barret Russell School), nine elementary schools (Angelo, Arnone, Baker, Brookfield, Downey, George, Hancock, Huntington, and john F. Kennedy), two K-8 schools (Davis and Raymond), six middle/junior high schools (North, East, West, South, Ashfield Middle Schools and the Plouffe Academy), Brockton High School and four alternative schools (Goddard Alternative School, Edison Academy, Champion High School and B. B. Russell Alternative School ). Brockton High School's athletic teams are called the Boxers (named after Rocky Marciano, Brockton's hometown boxing champion).
